iGST Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Hub

About

The Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Hub (LAC Hub) of the independent Global Stocktake (iGST) brings together the experience and visions of regional climate advocates to ensure that the Global Stocktake (GST), the central ambition mechanism of the Paris Agreement, is as effective and regionally relevant as possible. Led by Iniciativa Climatica de Mexico (ICM) in collaboration with Instituto Clima e Sociedade (iCS) in Brazil and Climate Analytics Caribbean in Trinidad and Tobago the LAC Hub serves as a platform for mutual learning and knowledge sharing between Latin America and the Caribbean and other regions.
The LAC Hub is designed to be an open and evolving project, responsive to the needs of its member organizations. The Hub encourages organizations to participate at varying levels according to their capacity, thus nourishing the efforts of the regional iGST. Development of the Regional Hub

Before forming the LAC Hub, Iniciativa Climatica de Mexico carried out a horizontal consultation among the regional climate civil society to identify the opportunities and challenges in creating a regional hub for the iGST. The results revealed significant differences amongst countries regarding scope, organizational structure and political and financial challenges. Nonetheless, one of the main takeaways from this analysis was that regional NGOs are supportive of the climate agenda and deeply interested in aligning their processes to increase climate action around the iGST and GST. Detailed results of this analysis are available below (English and Spanish).

To establish a regional hub that helps achieve a stronger GST, ICM created a strategic Roadmap. The Roadmap proposes the creation of workstreams to build cohesive and supportive actions for the regional civil society while addressing the needs and opportunities identified during the consultation. This Roadmap can be found in the resources below.
