Our Approach

To prevent dangerous climate change, annual greenhouse gas emissions must be cut in half by the year 2030 — an expected reduction of about 30 billion tons (gigatons) per year.
This ambitious target requires immediate and widespread adoption of smart policies that rapidly improve energy efficiency, scale up the deployment of clean energy technologies, and halt the destruction of tropical forests.
The network’s Regional Climate Foundations, supported by rigorous technical analysis from our Best Practice Networks, guide every aspect of our grantmaking and research agenda. They focus their work on the relatively small set of policies that can achieve the needed reductions in emissions.
